A few too many feathers have been flying around here lately. I thought I would lighten up the mood and throw some chips..
Now Andrew was talking 20mm BMS down to 11 in a cut on his AL960b. He had a pretty big knife to do that. I grabbed myself a 21.51 CCMT cermet and pushed my luck... results were pretty remarkable. I could get a 5mm DOC with 10mm off the diameter with a tiny CCMT060204HQ!
So here is my attempt to join the cermet club. After this photo was taken I did another run a bit deeper. I pushed my luck a bit far and the machine nearly stalled, one hell of a squeal and a quick grab for the auto feed leaver saved the day!
I tell you what, those chips are so hot. I had a few land on my hand. Wow, felt like I was hit by lightning. I play with hot stuff quite a bit (welding), but those chips are something else!
