Sitrrer imperfect.jpg

I had a thousand easy clean paint stirrers made in China. They are made out of mild mild steel before being zinc coated and chrome passivated. Unfortunately about 800 have failed usually in the solder area (maybe because different metals joined together enhance corrosion). Anyhow I need a quick method of getting these in a fit state to replate. I cannot think of any other cure for it. So I thought get rid of the oxide with acid and replate with nickle. However polishing out the corrosion creates unattractive bright patches, and dipping in vinegar turned the whole thing black.

Every minute counts with this job as you have to multiply the time it takes by 800 hundred, so an extra minute in fixing one means about 13 hours+ more work.

Advice welcome!
