Default Remington Promotional Movie from 1969 on YouTube

Sidetracked myself while looking for something and found this.

Remington Arms - "One At A Time" (1969) - YouTube

Might be of some interest to both gunslingers and non gunslingers alike. I loved it. Been a long time since I've slung a gun.

Provides a brief glimpse at some of the myriad processes involved in firearm manufacture.

    Hi BT,
    Thanks for the link.
Any ideas whats going on with the stock at 27.15? I think I've seen that sort of thing before but it escapes me what its for.

    Thanks BT, great video,

I bought a friend the Holland and Holland dvd for Christmas a few years back, it's well worth a look if you get a chance, they still do all the final fitting and finishing by hand, smoke blackened parts and fitting by feel for the most part.

Stuart, I didn't see anything at 27:15? but if you meant 20:15, that where the guy was inletting the action to the stock, my friend who makes gunstocks uses spotting blue and a range of homemade tools to scrape the last few thou off the walnut, I've made a few tools for him on occasion.

Next time you are in town, we should pay him a visit..

Back to Holland and Holland, there's a video here.. Holland & Holland on Vimeo at around 2:00 you can see them soldering the barrels together, when they "shoot in" a double rifle ( aka elephant gun ) they actually re-melt the solder to align the bores to converge at the specified yardage... nothing like handmade for precision.. ( and high price )

    Regards
    Ray

    Hi Ray,
I was talking about this stock.
Looks to be along the lines of a 22LR, why would you want a lump of steel in your armpit? Still I guess target rifles tend to grow all sorts of strange attatchments for one reason or another.

One of my cousins had at least a couple of double rifles but I cant recall if they were H&H or just took a H&H round(I'd have to guess at the later) .500/450 Nitro Express rings a bell.

The hand work in those videos is amazing

    it was,

I have a disk here somewhere showing a guy making a black powder hexagonal barrel from a billet of steel...that too is amazing considering no electrical equipment is used to forge, shape and ream it...all done in the tradition they were originally made
