Remotely wire Huanyang VFD
Again, I have spent hours trawling through the various forums looking for a simple wiring diagram to hook a remote speed control and a fwd/rev switch to the Huanyang VFD, I purchased a few months ago (there is no model or ser no obvious on this). I have hooked up a Teco similarly, again after a lot of research.
Is it V1,V0 and 10V for speed control. Likewise DCM, REV and FOR for the fwd and rev? To also save me trawling the paperwork, how does one enable this remote control? It looks there is a jumper next to this connector block. Does this need to be changed?
It would be nice if there was someone out there making some simple remote controls with relevant wiring diagrams to suit different VFD's.
Thanking you in anticipation. Ken

Hi Ken,
I think you have it wrong. I think the speed pot uses 10V VI ACM.
The FOR/REV look correct depending on other settings.
Setting for external control are.
PD001=1 (run commands)
PD002=1 (operating freq)
Maybe wait until someone that has more experience with these VSDs comes along. I only have one fitted and havent added remote control.
Stuart
p.s. PD023=1 (to allow rev rotation)
A picture might help someone tell you what model(also some of the factory persets)Last edited by Stustoys; 25th January 2012 at 12:06 PM. Reason: p.s.

She works
Bingo. Thanks Stuart.You were spot on, on all counts. I did have the manual but not the expertise to be able to decipher it. I read the manual alongside the Teco manual (I had a Teco FM 50 wired remotely). The functions for the relevant terminals seemed to coincide. So I gave it a try and like I said, "Bingo"

Well done i must document mine so if it every breaks or has to be rewired i will know how i did it . i have mine wired to a 3 phase female plug and just swap the plugs to work the lathes or shaper without any changes in settings
if you have trouble with it shutting down when you load it up forget the amps on the name plate on the motor and plug in say 5 amps in the parameters of the vfd
mines a 3 hp version which is good to 7 amps
have forwd/ reverse/variable speed wired remotely

Hi Ken,
Good news.
I find the Huanyang manual pretty hard going to, mostly because it has so many more options(some of which I still dont fully understand) than the Teco. I used my first one in anger the other day drilling a hole for a mate with the Hercus only to find the drill turning backwards. lol A few minutes button pressing trying to get reverse before remembering the reserve inhibit. Now it runs fwd in resverse . I really should change a couple of wires to fix that.

I thought the Haunyang complicated until I started to use a different type of VFD (Powtran}. The manual for that may as well be written in Chinese for all I can understand of it. It seems to be comprehensible for those that have experience of VFD's but for the new user it is very difficult. One advantage of it though is we can transfer the profile from one to another through the removable keyboard.
