You made a comment about image composition a while back and as a result I took a much closer look at your recent photographic exhibitions. You're in a league of your own there, but I happily learn from you....

As Ray said, the column is solid and VERY heavy - like everything on this drill. The counterweight is 4.5" diameter and needed to be 25kg, just to make the table managable for me.

Just a quick note for Ken (Trewalla):
My dimension image shows the depth adjustment clamp lever as 5/8" diameter - it is of course a mistake and should be 5/16" diameter.

Thanks Joe, I've been busy lately, I will finally post the photo's of my Servian SA.11 Bench Drill.

I had to pull it apart to get in the sedan when I bought it, so it's still in parts. Just waiting for my pwr supply to be repaired & it'll start to go in the electrolysis tank.

The old blue motor was on it, but I had a BNIB motor that needed to go somewhere rather than on the garage floor. Easy as swapping the lead & switch over.

The last photo shows what I think is a chisel mortising attachment. (Thanks to Joe for the heads-up on that component)

Very nice. I have one of these (stamped 11-68) however mine has definitely been around the block a few more times that what you started with. It bears all the scars of an uncaring business owner who allow nuffers to stuff up good tools- the original 'Servian' belt guard is missing, the original pedestal base is missing, there are chunks missing from the stepped pulleys and the depth stop boss has been broken off. I will fix her up though, but I will return it to prime working condition rather than 'concourse' as per your excellent effort. Unfortunately it will look like a bit of a cyborg but it will do the job.

Here I could suggest the DPP introduces the death penalty for 'tool abuse' but don't get me started.....

What I might ask, however, is 'Servex' somehow related to 'Servian'? I have always suspected they are, but there appears to be some aficionados here who know about this company. I have this big chunky old-school compressor pump in my shed with 'Servex' cast into the body.... sorry not for sale!!
