I was going to say I will buy it and you pay the postage, but since your throwing in the vise I will pay the postage, lol
Those handle are not that easy to make, here is the link to making them
Mandrel Handle
I think I will buy them from the US because the chroming over here would cost as much as buying them.
In your picture I noticed that you took off the X table locks and put bolts in, did they break? I also see you took off the Y way wiper were you working on it?
I made up a way cover that comes from the top of the column to the back of the saddle and one on the front of the saddle that comes forward and covers everything from chips. It makes clean up a lot easier and less chance of getting something on the ways or the scale.
The one thats on there now is only made out of vinyl, latter I will replace it with 3mm rubber to stop anything damaging the ways if I drop something.
Your Y axis scale is in the same position as mine. With Rays they dropped it down and used what looks like a longer scale.

table locks?.....the machine didnt even have them when it arrived...and yes I was did have the wiper off ...for some reason?...but its back on now.
As for the table locks I have been in touch with Ronmack and they said they would sort it out....still waiting for the outcome on that and possibly a new spindle to correct the slap i have on high speed (mentioned in a very early post)...its been just on a month since they ..were here to have a look at it so will wait till next week before I enquire as to what is going on???
ah ah I remember after finished typing.... I showed Ronmack the broken gib ...where the adjustment screw locates...it was broken off... no big drama but makes it harder to back off the gib if neededLast edited by eskimo; 29th July 2010 at 08:47 PM. Reason: temporary memory loss

The vinyl has been on this mill since new and on the mill before it for about a year and is still as new. It was just stuff I had laying around at the time.
I folded the edges over and used contact adhesive to glue them so they wouldn't fray. With the hole around the horizontal arbor I cut another ring of vinyl and glued it on the back.
I drilled holes in the top of the column on the last mill to attach the flat bar, but because I am going to change over to rubber with this one I just made some wire hooks that hook into the socket head bolts at the top. Where it attacher's to the saddle I used sheet metal angle that go behind the way wipers so no holes have to be drilled.
Clark rubber is $30 per mtr for 3mm rubber 1.2mtr wide, A mtr would do both, so it's not that dear really.

simply put yes if done right and it eliminates the need to find someone with a large enough surface grinder and that will cost a lot of money grinding is expensive and to do your job the best way it should really be done on a cylindrical grinder and thats way more money than standard grinding
i cant see why you would need to tolerance to tight (0.03mm would be more than acceptable and more easily achievable thats smaller than a hair!) your head has 2 axis of adjustment so once you install your riser then you tram the head again and you overcome any errors the riser my have and so long as you done swivel the head then you should be fine
oh and sorry for replying to something so early in the thread i haven't been on for awhile
edit lol sorry though you had a Bridgeport now i see why you need the parallelism in any case a lathe would get it far closer than a surface grinderhappy turning

Spacer Block
Mark,
have you considered the possibility of a flame cut profile blank from 101.6mm (4") plate. Have a chat to someone from a GOOD flame cutting Co in Perth. We (at work) have tonnes of flame cut profiles done each year (special purpose machine manufacturers)
If you need a CAD profile, Email me your dims.
Regards,
Trevor
