Rivett 608
Photos from an ended Reliable Tools auction. Nice to dream.
It's hard to imagine that pastel lime featured on the factory palette back in '41. Strange colour scheme but each to his own.

Another recent find
This 608 in the U.S. surfaced recently:
It's a 5C machine with an
exceptional amount of tooling, including:
Original motor,
Complete overhead drive system,
3 jaw, 4 jaw independent and 4 jaw universal chucks,
Faceplates,
Steady and follow rests,
Numerous change gears, including metric transposing gears,
Slotting attachment,
Relieving attachment,
Spiral milling attachment, complete with divider for cutter fluting,
Milling attachment,
Headstock dividing attachment,
Toolpost or milling attachment dividing attachment,
ID and OD grinding attachments,
Vise to go into eccentric toolpost or spiral milling attachment,
Eccentric, conventional and hand turning toolposts,
Tailstock tooling (chucks and centers),
and more.
In the words of the current new owner:
"The lathe was purchased as a home machine by a General Electric Company
engineer, who used it very little. It then went to a machinist, who also used
it very little. I bought it from him."

Michael,
I took the liberty of rotating your photo. Sadly the other photos don't open in an enlarged format.

Bob-
This seems to be as large as I can get them without pixilating.

Hey Mike,
My first attempt at rotating and resizing disappeared down the plug hole.
Any chance of a tale about how wonderful these machines are to use. Your friend Gregory has said the 608 is a thing of exquisiteness and rare beauty. So far I have only seen photographs. Maybe one day.....
