My Romac Milling Machine
What a beautiful well made milling machine the cast base is 1/2 inch thick the slides are smooth lovely chromed handwheels Iam very pleased with it. It is much better than the chinese one's yes I know they were made Taiwan but it is very well made. The machine was owned by Telsra what they would use it for I don't know. Now I have to look at a VDF unit to get it up and running where would one get one these here in WA

If you want to buy a VSD in Perth it will likely cost you a lot of money. Ebay is the go. Do you know how many kW you need?

Milling Machine
Hi blokes
You can still buy those over in Cane Toad land. Seen them advertised by that bloke that was selling the Myford spares. Thats the same machine that fellow metalwork member Woodlee has, or similar.
Would buy one of them, but would need to fly over and check one out first before in the metal before committing. Have thought of a BM30 myself, I dont do enough milling to justify spending that amount, be nice though.

Good to hear you finally got a mill and a good one by the sounds of it.
Like other members I look forward to seeing photo's of it once it's home.

Sorry I bid for it now, you might have gotten it cheaper.
I did go up and have a look at it. Nice tight machine. Hope it works well for you.
I liked the mill he was replacing it with.

Milling Machine
Greetings Chaps. I had one of these beasties and I found it to be excellent. Mine came new from A T Stead & Co here in Melbourne. It was graduated in metric which caused some confusion as I had ordered it in Imperial. There was much swearing about Taiwanese inches untill the penny droped. I took the lid off mine and added two more pulleys to the train. I was doing some milling with a side and face cutter and needed to reduce the speeds. On the other hand it went like the clappers when I had occasion to work in the pattern making interests I have. One drawback is when as most operators of these machines is the lack of height between the bottom of the quill and the table at its lowest point when you have something in the nose of the machine. I find the all of us do tend to work at the limits of our capacity. Yours 4-6-4

Hi bts,
You might have a chance with this one. Both times when they have come up I have thought about it but I'm settled on the BM30.
