I've discussed this post with Grahame and we think it better here than in the marketplace, where it may violate the rules (there are some recent changes so I suggest that if you have not, please read them).

Anyway, the other day I was taken to an out of the way store room at the Uni and shown 2 rotary tables; a 12" H (and V?) one and a 16" horizontal. Both come under the category of "bloody heavy". They are surplus to requirements and so are sitting there, pending rusting into oblivion. It was suggested to me that if I made a reasonable offer to the manager with responsibility for the area, they may see their way clear to letting me have them. I have no use for them personally. I have an 8" R/T that is heavy enough.

If a member is interested in one or both of them, I would be prepared to act as a conduit. I don't have photos - just take my word for it that they are typically dirty unkempt looking bits of kit but they work. They are old but as they are from a Uni, they would be good quality. What I propose is that if anyone is interested, they send me a PM with their offer and which one (or both?) they are interested in. I get back there on the 7th, so only offers received by 6th January will be considered. I will take the best offer to the manager (provided that I think it is not pitifully low) on 7th. I would prefer local pickup but can pack them for interstate transport (at buyer's cost) although I may ask for costs if I can't scrounge packing materials. Did I mention they are bloody heavy?

To keep things above board I will post if they have been sold and for how much; I'm not running an auction, so it is a one off expression of interest with no bargaining or back and forth. Don't even ask me what I think they are worth, as I don't know. Payment and collection of the goods would not have to be immediate, so for example you are expecting some money in on the 15th, you can offer with that as a condition (but you need to say!). I would suggest that you also respond with a short post here, just saying that you have sent a PM (and state for which R/T - don't include your offer amount). That way it is at least on record that you have expressed an interest and there are no disagreements as to whether or not someone did offer within the time frame. In the event of two offers the same amount, the earliest posted response saying you have offered will get the nod.

You can pull your offer before the 7th. Once the offer goes to the Uni, you are on the hook. The Uni may not accept any offers. It is their gear and their call, but I'm trying to help clear some space for them while helping someone here out. I'm doing this without any commission or reimbursement, so I reserve the right to withdraw this arrangement at anytime if it gets too onerous or aggravating.

Michael
