Just had a look at it on http://www.lathes.co.uk/schaublin12/
What a beautiful little universal mill! I guess the value depends on the accessories you get with it.
Take some photos of it when you inspect it and let us drool a bit too!
    Cheers,

    Hi Peter,
I think it really depends on what accessories it comes with. If it is just the machine and standard table I would not pay that much. If it has the horizontal head, tilting tables, dividing head etc etc then it could be worth quite a few grand. I'd love to see some pics as I'm sure a certain westerner would.....
A small mill like that is on my one day list, but I would stay away if it is poorly tooled up.

Edit, Joe must type faster than me....

    Hello Peter,

As Joe and Ew have said, it's all about the accessories. The mill has limited travel, x=200mm, Y=120 and Z=200. If you are happy with small and the mill was in good nick and tooled, I reckon it would be a great buy.

The spindle is bored 4 Morse and a reduction adaptor was available to accommodate the W20 collets Schaublin used on the simple dividing head offered as an accessory for the 12. Same as the one I have for the 13.

If the mill does come with the vertical head, W20s in the spindle for cutter holding will maximize the Z clearance.

I have seen more accessories for sale for the 12 than I have for the 13 in the time I've had mine. If it's of any use I can post you a photocopy of a photocopied German language 1963 12 catalogue. All the accessories are illustrated.

Here are some photos of a couple of SV12s sold by the Dutch seller of European exquisiteness, Machinehandel A.G. Bos. Nice

The liberal application of Dulux Wash and Wear would make me cautious Peter. The ball nipples supplying oil to the horizontal spindle bearings have been painted over and the paint is still intact suggesting a lack of contact with a pump oiler. If the bearings are rooted, replacement high precision bearings would be, I imagine, an expensive proposition.

The 12 and 13 share the same front bearing, a SKF double row cylinder bearing. The back bearings differ, mine has a pair of 2 micron accuracy tapered roller bearings made by La Precision Industrielle Rueil-Malmaison. The 12 has a pair of opposed angular contact bearings, probably from the same manufacturer. French unobtainium ?

You could probably get away with replacing with standard wheel bearings and still have a machine more accurate than my Chinese mill!

Girl, I don't wanna know about your mild-mannered alter ego or anything like that." I mean, you tell me you're, uh, super-mega-ultra-lightning babe? That's all right with me. I'm good. I'm good.
