Had a few SS knurled knobs to make and instead of flogging the Hercus headstock bearings and tool post mount with my push-knurlers one more time decided to fork out for a scissor type knurler.

Went for this cheap ($70) Indian one, Shank 1/2" Quick Action Scissor Type Knurling Tool Holder Capacity 1/16 - 2.1/4" | eBay

Not the best finish I've seen on a lathe tool but it seems sturdy enough.

It seems a bit large for the small QCTP on the Hercus and I don't like the way it blocks the view of the knurled surface but I guess that's a problem for all scissor action knurlers.

One thing I noticed was how quick it was.

The slight unevenness of the pattern could be due to a few things,
Knurler not square to the workpiece
Shoulder on the LHS of workpiece meant I could not run the knurling ring half off the knurled like I was able to on the RHS
Central nut on the knurler not be being tight enough.

Will experiment a bit more with it to see what I can do.
