G'day,
If it's not too late I'd like to throw my hat in the ring to attend.
I can make it to either the 30/08 or 18/10 weekends if there is still room.
Cheers,
Greg.

If there is a spare place still available I would like to attend. Any weekend would be suitable as I am retired. I have recently moved to NSW from WA but the container with my workshop contents may still be in Perth when the classes are on and
what scrapers I have may not be available so you could put me down for the ones you will be selling.
Peter.

Scott's put in a lot of work this week, we think we have found two weekends that includes every one that had put their hand up by yesterday. Regrettably its neither of the dates you mentioned. Of the 8 weekends offered, there's only 2 that suited every one.
Hello Peter, being fully flexible on dates, I'm sure that wont be a problem to fit you in. Also on the scraper, I'll have enough here to loan, if you all ready have one. If you happen to fall in love with it, then it would be for sale.
Regards Phil.

An upate:
Ok folks, by the numbers that Phil and I recieved by 7am this morning (When I last had access to the spreadsheet), we've narrowed it down to two dates.
September 13th / 14th and October 4th / 5th.
Now these wern't the most popular dates, but these are the only two dates that included everybody at least once. That said, each of those dates were only one vote behind the winners, so there isnt much in it. I also like that the 4th / 5th is a long weekend here in NSW, which makes travel much easier. THIS ISNT SET IN STONE YET. Im just letting everyone know that these are the most likely contenders. Phil and I will have a look at it on monday or tuesday and make a final decision. What we need from you gents over the weekend is to consider those dates and your availability on them (a few wern't certain of commitment yet, now is the time to start narrowing it down). Unless some wildly different info pours in over the weekend, this will likely be the way it will go.
Anybody not yet PM'ed or posted their available dates to us, please do so asap. By monday, we'll be making a final decision with the data we have at that time.

I'd just add, thats not an invitation to start selecting between those two weekends. If you have nominated either of those dates, we have committed you to that weekend. It came down to only 2 of the 8 weekends offered, that would fit every one in.
We will balance up the class numbers to be about equal, 12 - 13 blokes, by allocating the ones that were available for most / any weekend.
Scott's put many hours into this this week. He has family visiting this weekend, so the bottom line decision will be Monday or Tuesday. I'd expect those dates to stand, but we can give you the breakdown, of which weekend you are in. After that you can take it to the bank, regarding airfares.
I'm ordering the cast iron on Monday.
Regards Phil.

Thanks to Scott for working it all out
As I said before any date is fine, hence I have stayed out of the discussion. I may be painful now and say that one may suit better than the other as far as our staffing here goes but it really is no biggie.

Scrap that.....apparently we will probably all come down for the weekend, so it doesn't matter. We do have a staff member away at some stage around there I will have to check. Guess we had better find our way over to the hill too and hit Phil t up for a tour.

Well the first Central Queensland morning scraping class has been and gone..
We had a good roll up attendance of one...
Things proceeded quite smoothly and quicker then I expected.. Both Canode and the homemade prussian blue mix were used on the plate...
Scraping proceeded until the plate had full coverage and could be finished off at home..
We then did some flaking both by hand and power flaking...
I hope John got his monies worth from the class
I must admit, being a teacher is far easier then student when it comes to scraping itself...Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.

A big thank you to Richard for being so generous with both his time and his equipment.
A quick poll of the students showed a 100% satisfaction rating.
I'm just waiting for my nationally recognized certificate of achievement.
While you can learn a lot from Youtube videos there is no substitute for a hands on lesson.
No excuses now "40 points per inch" here I come
John

Good evening gents, time for another update.
As there was no outcry and derision over the proposed dates, Phil and I agreed to go ahead with the 13th of september and 4th of october weekends. After a bit of consideration, aided by a bubby and dark orange coloured beverage, we've divvied up the players into two teams. Ive collapsed the spreadsheet into the two dates and attendees of each. There are some people who expressed interested but who havent got back to either Phil or I. If youre still keen, it isnt too late yet.
For those that are on the list, have a look at which date we've placed you. If its good, then happy days. If its no good, try and organise a swap with someone on the date youre keen to do and let us know of the changes.
What I need from everyone now is the following information:
- Full Name
- Email Address
- A phone number (home or mobile, whatever floats your goat)
- A location (Suburb or town / State is fine, no need for addresses)
Obviously, PM'ing that info would be your best bet. Alternatively, you can email me: scottdollin (at) bigpond (dot) com
In the near future, we'll be talking tools that people do have and Phil will be talking deposits for the materials (mentioned a few pages back).
