Yeah Bryan, sorry wasnt really thinking VSD, I've never liked full reverse threading, I pitty the poor motor. but with a VSD it wouldn't worry me. (you could even thread at one of your jog speeds then reverse at another).

I have a lathe with a single tooth dog clutch and managed on the last pass I was doing on a 3/8" thread to distract myself and prang (I was doing a grooveless thread at the time). Who needs some one talking?
