Have you seen this object? (Jaw boring ring)
Anyone have one of these in their 'don't know what it is' box?
Or even their 'know what it is but will never use it' box?
If so I may be interested in buying it (cheaply).

Not hard to make if you have a mill. Which I don't.
Not hard to buy new either if you have money. Which I don't.
PS: I put the question that way, not to be condescending, but because in the past I have seen these things or images thereof and not known what they were, so I thought others may also be unaware of their purpose. Which is to preload chuck soft jaws for boring.

What size OD are you looking for Bryan? The Shars page has several sizes. If you get no takers and I can find some plate I may be able to make the disc part up for you. (I mean, what's one more thing on the list?)

Thanks Michael. Can't have you getting bored [hyuck]. Not sure on the best size. I will measure and ponder tomorrow. I think 8 - 10" OD.

Michael, if a cheap one doesn't turn up, it makes more sense at this stage to persevere with internal clamping rings of various sizes - which I can make with materials on hand - than to spend time making one of these. Especially someone else's time. I just thought it worth asking because it's the sort of thing that could turn up in auction lots and lie dormant. But thanks again for the thought.
