I have a confession....
I got my first Douglas shaper only a couple of weeks ago. I now have another one, the same model (ball bearings, clutch, blue/grey paint). My wife doesn't know about it yet!!!

Invicta/Elliott Vertical Slotting Attachment finally home
Hi Guys,
Well...it seems like a lifetime ago, since we last "spoke" (about 4 weeks really!)...but I finally got my Slotting Attachment home the other day.
I had to get my neighbour to come over and help me lift it out of the back of the car...as the main "body" casting is deceptively, bloody heavy!
I have just "parked it up" in front of the newer Elliott 14M, to give you a better idea of the size of the atachment. As you can see, from the photo, I have the main body casting, the vertical sliding ram casting and the gib/clamping strip...
First job now, is to get all the gunge and rust off the slideways...while I "source" the materials required to machine/fabricate the Operating Link.
Regards,
Adrian

Hi Bryan,
Well a few days ago I said the planer would be arriving in a week or two, or something like that. Well when plans change they can change quickly. The freight company rang me and said it's on it's way,, low and behold it arrived this afternoon(28Mar)

Found hanging around the shed
Well. I have gotten brave enough the try and append some pics.
The blue machine is now inside (15 mins after the pic) and lots of rusty bits have "fallen" off. Cleaning up OK; NO thanks to the apprentice???? who was supposed to have recoed the unit. I know where I would like to shove his can of degreaser and steam cleaner. Have found surface rust on all bare metal parts, in joins etc and slides.
Hit the oustside and get rid of some of the "flight" crud then Ray's dulux reco.
Luckily the d***head didn't realize that there was an inside too.
At least it is pretty original with its safety covering of dried grease.
The ram and table slides have almost no wear. I have also got it before the rust can get a hold. Worst part is between the clapper mount and tool head. Hopefully I can take a skim off the tool head slide face to remove some pitting.
Does anybody have any ideas of how to remove the tool head from the ram? I am guessing that I remove the swivel cam and it should come out.
The green machine is the Alba 1A.

Don't worry about the toll head removal. Gave all joins a spray with wd40 last night . 1st thing this morning had it out in about 5 minutes.
How to
Remove grub screw retainer from cam,
free up cam and lift out,
withdraw tool head base from ram,
pickup cam actuating sleeve from bench where it fell.
