    Default My first shaper project

Yesterday I made an indicator holder for my lathe on my shaper

we stated with a piece of aluminium, I roughed out the centre on the mill and cut the dovetails with the shaper. I used my bandsaw to remove the excess material then cleaned it up on the shaper and made some brass locking screws.

The shaper looks great Andre, well done

Have you got a pic of the finished product, or where you are up to with it?

Nicely done, I have just been using my mag base on the antrac, since the leadscrew is so worn the dial grads are not consistent. I had not considered doing what you have done, will have to look into whether i have enough space.

Meeting up sounds good, let me know when and we can t something up.

    Andre
Good to see that Shaper now in operation.
    Nice work on the dovetails.
Shapers are great for this type of work.
    Well done.
Happy 2014 to you & your family.
    regards

Any reason why you didn't reduce the thickness of where the indicator fits through your block?

Is this used from the get go or after you have already rough machined the OD.

If its used after the OD has been machined how did you work out how far to move it the 1st time when machining the OD?
