Very Strange
I was talking about the thread cutting ability of the machines I've looked at, once again I still haven't mentioned anything about QC gearboxes and feed rates, why on earth do you keep bringing them up? This is getting very strange indeed!

Because, with all due respect, just because you haven't mentioned that issue doesn't mean it's not important and well worth consideration.
If you don't think so, perhaps you simply haven't given the matter the consideration it needs, and people are trying to do you a favour by mentioning it.
On forums in general, you get the advice that people feel like giving and it's not always (or even often) the advice that you want. Carping about it is pointless and basically ungrateful to the people trying to help.

Thank you PDW
Or perhaps one man's carping could just be another's man's questioning - usually signified with a ?. Just wondering how my comment about thread cutting could be quoted and then misinterpreted to mean something about QC boxes and feed rates. I'm still perplexed, but I guess I'm just carping and ungrateful. That said, I can't thank you enough for pointing out my rudeness, in future I shall take a leaf from your book, carping and ungrateful are, apparently, polite and courteous terminology. Thank you again.

Sounds like you are on the verge of making a decision anyway. When do you think you will pull the trigger on this beast?
SimonGirl, I don't wanna know about your mild-mannered alter ego or anything like that." I mean, you tell me you're, uh, super-mega-ultra-lightning babe? That's all right with me. I'm good. I'm good.

Yep
I rang General tools today and asked if he could do a better price, surprisingly his reply was 'no I can't, as a matter of fact I have to charge you extra - for freight'. That pretty well made up my mind, tomorrow I'll be picking up the 280x700G from Impala.
