Another Sight Glass Question
Hello,
Well I finally managed to remove by chemically attacked sight glass on my lathe after looking on ebay for replacements.
Many different sizes on ebay, all with a screw in arrangement and an o ring at the back that is squeezed against the face when the thread takes up.
My problem is, the sight glass on my lathe is just a push in arrangement and the o ring is seated on the shaft of the sight glass.
The hole seems to be approx. 20mm. What do I do? Tap a 22mm thread into the hole and then buy an off the shelf sight glass on ebay with an m22 thread?
Or, turn down the thread (which would be fiddly given their size) and make it a push and glue arrangement?
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Simon

What about buying one that is close or slightly under in size, and using some silicon sealer on it? As long as you can see the sight glass centre the outside wont matter.
Turning the threads will be a pain to say the least.

Have you tried google? Push in ones are available. I remember seeing them when I was looking a while back. Level window in another search term to try. I ended up repairing mine as I couldn't find the right size. Will see if I can find the thread.
