lol had the same feeling when I bought a jig grinder.
Great new RC. Wish I had the room, it would take about about 25% of my shed and well, poke through the roof lol.
Details.... though I likely have them somewhere.

Pick up is sometime in the next three weeks... Phil is going to tell me, he will volunteer to drive up and dismantle next Wednesday, when Mark is picking his up... Kill two birds with one stone ....Geoff the owner seemed to be quite happy it is no longer going to be scrapped and will do what he can to help, he seems more relaxed now his workshop is bare except for three machines... .. My headache is probably less then the chap in the UK that bought the VBA and has to containerise it.. Geoff told me the big VBA is in two pieces not connected to one another... The bed and column are separate..
The pickup is really not complicated... A crane place just around the corner and my usual truck driver said there is no problems on his end, and a machinery mover to pull the column/arm off, all of a dozen bolts plus some wiring and lubrication lines.. It all comes back to funds which I have just decided to say stuff it and do it... Reality is a machine like this is not going to come along again in a long time....Machine has to be out within three weeks, which gives me some breathing space... Which is a hell of a lot different to the Grays collection days...
I had every reason worked out why I did not need and and to let it get scrapped.... Then Mark called again... Damn you Mark, damn you to hell...
If I do not have to eat for a month to pay the freight, then so be it... It would have been a travesty to see such a machine gone to China.. It is different if it was just a plain old lathe or mill or small borer, they are a dime a dozen and no great loss... The machines that make the machines are a different story... Once they are gone from this country, they are not coming back..
Now my emotions are swinging between dread of buying it and euphoria of buying it... Maybe I am feeling what some woman unfortunately have to go through at different times of the lunar cycle...Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.

I could be there tonight, its only 8 hours in my van.
This bloke coming from England. He's going to need labour to dismantle it. OH&S, qualified person and all that. I know a bloke that has demonstrated ability to stuff machines into containers. Pull a paid job out of it, and we will do yours and Mark's on the side.
I'll pack the trailer now.
Phil.

I am very pleased to see both of these grinders are going to great new homes. It was saddening to hear that the 10 footer was going to be made into scrap and I am so glad that this is no longer the case.

So is that a raiser block fitted to the column? I think even Greg would have trouble reaching those controls.

Could not be happier😃😃😃.
Richard had to buy it or I would have had to and I already have enough issues getting the 6 footer home. Thanks for taking one for the team Richard. All jokes aside the pain of paying to get it home will subside quickly but the pleasure of having it in the shed will last a lifetime. And as far as i know there are only two others within 2500 km of you so the won't come along very often. Well done again and I can sleep soundly tonight not having to worry about how to convince the wife I need 2 grinders.
Phil I hope to get to Sydney about 12 next Wed and have booked a crane for 2 pm. Richard are you using Johnstons at Smithfield to lift your grinder on?
Phil are you bringing skates? Have you spoken to Geoff about packing up the 16 footer? Might save the owner a trip to Australia if he gave you the job!! Anyway if it works out look forward to seeing you there.
Richard does that mean you won't need me to pick up your straight edge?
I think that's enough questions

Nah, I new what I was getting myself into.. Blame Mark, I say...
It nearly did not happen... The scrap dealer went in Wednesday and did some work to it... We were thinking he pulled the column off and a few other things... I knew that would not have been done carefully, why would you when scrap is what it is for.. That was the end of it for me.... Turns out all he did was drain the oil and loosen a few bolts on the column...
Do you have any more photo's of the others?
Well I will leave that up for people to decide, they can PM me if they want and they will stay anonymous... But I did not buy it expecting assistance....
I can tell you all I paid much much more then the Grays price... The scrap buyer wanted $3100.. Well actually he wanted more, there was little I could do, today was the last day to save it, the actual scrap company owner was in hospital, so I had to deal with his worker who may or may not have inflated the price a bit from the $2500 I was expecting... But that price is not unreasonable IMO, I would have bid about that as a max anyway at the sale.. I would have preferred Geoff the seller got it, but anyway that is how the cookie crumbles... I should have got my act into gear when the sale was on, rather then just thinks grays would be real bastards when it came to collection and these three days are the days to pick up, like it or lump it...
This grinder has not been used by the current business... Although the grinder hand that ran the grinders at CNC Engineering previously worked at Grout and Darlington and ran all three grinders there... The big spacer plate is so milling machines can be ground on top...Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.
