Smith and Arrow have gone to the trouble of emailing details of a special offer they are running.
I wanted to order 200 cutting discs and probably 200 flap discs but I needed to ask some questions regarding the flap discs.
I went to the trouble of ringing them and asked to speak to somebody regarding the flap discs, but unfortunately I was told that the lady answering the phone would have to send the relevant department a message to ring me back. When I asked if she could just put me through , she said that they were not available. I then asked I when I could expect a call back, she said it should be today.
I find this really frustrating as I don't want to be hanging around my phone (it's a mobile but I don't carry it with me all the time) all day for a call that should come.
I know I am whinging but my previous experiences with Smith and Arrow have been good.
Australian retailers wonder why they lose business to overseas retailers.

So you don;t mind waiting for a phone call back form OS when your really want something specific? I don't get it. Stcik your mobile in your pocket and get on with whatever you are doing...... I have had nothing ut good experiences with S&A. You can always e-mail the manager and read the reply when it suits you.
Cheers,
Joe

Jhovel, thanks for your comments.
Nowhere in my previous post did I say I would wait for a call back from an overseas vendor. Unless they were able to give me a reasonable idea of the expected call back time they would get the same response as an Australian vendor.
However, my experience with overseas vendors, mainly USA, is that if I go to the trouble of ringing them they will have a person available to take the call, and if they don't I can be assured that they will give me a good idea of when I can expect a call back and I can be confident that they will actually call back.
Unfortunately, more and more many Australian businesses are dropping the ball with customer service. In this case when I asked when I could expect a call back I was told it "should" be today. Given my recent experience with call backs from various businesses, this just does not work for me. If the response was "we will call you by X time today, I would probably have accepted it.
Now a $500 to $600 order will go to a competitor, as will future orders and also my recommendation to my friends and business acquaintances.
That is a shame as the Smith and Arrow product is really very good, as I have said in a previous post.
I know I am having a whinge and possibly cutting off my nose etc., but I am really over poor customer service.

I just got my first box of goodies from Smith and Arrow - I'm more than happy. Flaps disks, cut off disks, drill bits. All looks good and a couple of freebs thrown in which is always nice and it's great they are providing a bit of incentive for members here. Didn't need to call them as everything was pretty clear on their website.
