The company is Longbeide [email protected] the contact is Karen Zhang.
Shipping was via DHL. Took 6 days. I didn't get a separate shipping price, only a total. The 400x250 was $220us shipped. Payment was via western union, that costs a max of $18 to send money to China.
They were made to order, and pics were sent before they were shipped.1915 17"x50" LeBlond heavy duty Lathe, 24" Queen city shaper, 1970's G Vernier FV.3.TO Universal Mill, 1958 Blohm HFS 6 surface grinder, 1942 Rivett 715 Lathe, 14"x40" Antrac Lathe, Startrite H225 Bandsaw, 1949 Hercus Camelback Drill press, 1947 Holbrook C10 Lathe.

You git 2 for the price of on?? I'm jealous!
Well that' sux. I guess they don't put them in wooded boxes any more. Hopefully they will replace it without to much hassle.1915 17"x50" LeBlond heavy duty Lathe, 24" Queen city shaper, 1970's G Vernier FV.3.TO Universal Mill, 1958 Blohm HFS 6 surface grinder, 1942 Rivett 715 Lathe, 14"x40" Antrac Lathe, Startrite H225 Bandsaw, 1949 Hercus Camelback Drill press, 1947 Holbrook C10 Lathe.

your jealous what of ? the fact that I had a real crack or I got two for one
I am thinking they will not do anything about it...and just ignore me, or tell me to fight it out with Aust Post, DHL, or PCA Express...the latter being the 1st carrier, DHL the 2nd and Aust Post the 3rd and last....
It should have been in a wooden box like yours Ueee
is it worth while taking to a monumental mason and get them to cut the top off
pic-5.jpg
...I realize I could not use that face but I would have something eh?..it would just be approx 180 high instead of 400
and what could I use to smooth out the chip on the LH rear base corner (not in pic)
looks like the thing did a couple cartwheels in transit as the top and base have chips on corners
what could I use the two half hole bits that id have left over ...lol

Maybe I spoke too soon...
maybe not, which would be fantastic, and if it goes so smoothly as Karen infers really great after-sales service!?
"Dear Richard,
We are so sorry to hear that.
I will contact with the express company to solve it.
But we will make a new one to send you soonest firstly.
Of course we will improve the package to keep the granite well.
Very sorry for this problem.
Best Regards,
Karen"

Well that would be disappointing. Great to hear it looks like they will get you sorted out with a new one fast.
As for cutting up the old one. I know its been spoken about a few times(Greg was thinking about getting a 900 * 600 plate cut into straight edges at one stage for one). In theory it should be just fine and in your case you don't have much to lose, if it hasn't moved now surely its not going to. There was a larger broken square, I think there was talk about cutting that one up, would be interesting to know what happened to that.

Yes, thats what I mean, in theory it cant move........ well not at the level we are interested in*.
If it could move(we think it can't), it would have moved by now, if breaking it in half didn't move it, I cant see cutting a little more off will............... make sense? lol Hey I know what I'm trying to say!
Stuart
*I believe granite can ding "up" when chipped...... but it is at a level "of no concern to us"**.
**thems fighting words I know

There was a company at Gepps Cross that did granite work, ask them what it would cost to cut square the broken sections, so you end up with 3 squares, Small, Medium and Large. Never know when you might need a small square.
