Spindle spline clamp for bad fitting splines
Hi,
I gave Eskimo a link to this and thought others with a HM52 mill or mill drill would be interested. It would suit suit other types of mills as well.
The Chinese mills don't come with the best fitting splines, so what this does is lock the top internal (female) spline to the quill male spline.
Once engaged you can not use the quill up and down, but it should be locked up for milling anyway. Undoing the locking bolt returns it to normal operation for drilling etc.

There is a lot of other good stuff on the site so have a look around.

I read this fellows site a while back and thought about doing this mod.
His mill is very similar to mine ,also mine has a fair bit of slop in the drive spline and I get a bit of a rattle when doing heavy cutting
Its a job Ill get around to doing one day .
