Spring compression by rotation?? Help
hey so i woke up last night early and i had this concept in my mind of a hand drill rotating and engaging a spring, compressing it and then releasing it
it could be used to make a easy hand drill tool that chips away slags from welding or maybe a sharp metal rod to chop concrete or whatever
but i cant get my head around it, i saw a T-shaped piece of steel, T but turned 90* to the right and then that engaging the spring and somehow releasing it, a plate attached to the top of the spring where it then shoots a piece forward
to me, this has to be possible but im no mechanical genius, most of the time i figure out something new i dont know what im doing i just suddenly invented something
could i maybe use a threaded rod for this- .. but how would this release and then once again engage? the fun is in it repeating fast, im not talking about a pendulum, it has to charge the energy and then release it rapidly so it has good striking force, a hand drill is very powerful and i imagine very powerful springs could be loaded if its set up right
