    Thanks for that Mike.

I've done a small amount of stamping and one trick that I came up with was to apply a piece of masking tape to the surface that was going to be punched and do a test run with the punch. Not belting it with a hammer but gently pressing the punch into the tape to check alignment and spacing. Obviously a jig was utilised and that can be something far more basic that the one shown in the article. The punch can easily be pushed up against a square corner ie. an angle. Nothing elaborate. The bloke mentions variation in the position of the numeral on the punch. I had a hell of a time with some US made Young Brothers stamps. Random would be the best word to describe their positioning on the punch.
Some of the sloppiest stamped numbering that I've seen was on a South Bend indexer that I once owned. Looked like the puncher was .

    Aaron,
How about showing us the roller marking press. It does a neat job. I take it the can of is to provide a sense of scale.

Not so much about the practice of stamping, But I just wanted to BRAG if thats the word,
I went to a swap meet in Sale last weekend and one of my(I would like to say bargains) was a 1/2" number set.
They are English made, very old and heavy and will look awsome with all my other sets.
As soon as I work out how to post a pic from my phone I will upload one..
    Were you there Morrisman?

    Hi Aarron,
All I get from your post 12 is "Invalid Attachment specified"

Doing good but lacking shed time.

Whats the max length of letters you can get in one roll?
