Metric Left Hand Nut - Fine Thread
I am making a 1 inch shaft to mount a couple of pulleys, a clutch/pulley combination and a bearing to adapt a horizontal crankshaft diesel engine to a vertical drive input ride-on mower using a hydraulic pump and motor.
The shaft stack needs a nut to complete it, preferably a fine-thread LH metric, size about 18 mm.
Any suggestions on where to get a nut, preferably close to Penrith ?
I will be enquiring at Boltmaster today.
I will screw-cut the shaft to suit the nut.
John.

I bought some 16mm left hand nuts from Boltmasters up here, just took two days to get them up with the regular order and cost $5.50 each. The right hand nuts on the other hand were oval, off axis and the six sides of the nut were all different sizes, IOW total crap, I ended up buying nylocks and machining the plastic ring off it and machining a shoulder to get a nice nut if a bit narrower than normal.

Hello John,
I have a 16mm x 1.5 (fine) LH Nut spare if it is of use.
Will be going through Penrith next week or will be at Mt. Riv. on Saturday morning if you are in a hurry.
Regards Mm.

Guys, thanks for the comments.
I got a 18 x 1.5 LH nut from Boltmaster for $5.
Graziano,
I am certainly surprized at your comments on the nut.
My experince with Boltmaster is that the item is always what it appears to be.
Commercial nuts are volume produced, so should be all the same.
I hope you complained.
Metalman,
Thanks for the offer, but I am OK now.
I would be pleased to see you if you want to visit, the travelling steady is now operational and painted (not very well).
Send a PM to organise.
John.
