I'll let you in on a secret......(yeah cause your the only one reading this)

You can get them cheap from the US on ebay. The problem is postage kills the deal. BUT you can fit 3 sets in a Medium flat rate box. So but 3 sets, and ship them. Then sell 2 of the sets on ebay, you should be able to get $70+ for them. If i buy anything from the states and have space in the box i fill it with parallels or 123 blocks, they sell easily on ebay here.

Have you got a pic of the face mill?

I got straight into a Ferrari, my first real milling was done on the cnc.... Now im back on the Model T, the knee mill has handles graduated in inches, so the few accurate jobs ive had to do involved lots of mental math to work out where i am in real numbers )

Everything came out where it was sposed to, but sssslllooowwww. I could have made the parts in 1/4 the time with DRO.
I would be interested to know where they can be bought for $500. Or is this just the DRO without scales? I have heard of cheap ones in the past but when I added all the required bits together it always came out to far more than suggested. Some form of DRO is on my list but as I have said there are other things needing finance. My next aim in the shed is to swap lathes which is a huge job. Mostly there now but the track to the back of the shed was under water last week and may be again if we get enough rain. I drove over it with the old hilux and trailer yesterday and I can tell you I am not going to carry a 1500kg lathe on that track yet.

TDS 3M Digital Readout 3 Axis DRO 3 Glass Scale FOR MILL Milling Drill AUS | eBay

They used to be under $A500, but the falling dollar has put paid to that.

There are others on Ebay as well.

Yep, those are the guys, their website is thedrostore.com
The gear is good quality and the service is good, ive bought from them a couple of times now. They ship out of Singapore and take 10-14 days to turn up

500 usually gets a full kit posted to Aus, but you can upgrade to 0.001 scales for more dollars too.

For $545 you get LED and LCD screen. More detail. 0.005mm resolution/accuracy. Sounds good. I am pleased to hear good reports about them.

I remembered to look at CDCO and they seem more reasonable priced than the others I've found. Any quality issues with this sort of stuff because I'm reluctant to buy from them again given most of there stuff I've bought previously has been junk.

Photos of all the tooling that came with the machine. Its all NT50 for the horizontal spindle bar one dodgy looking fly cutter.

The face mill has 3 inserts fitted and there is maybe scope to fit a couple more where the holders look intact. No markings... any suggestions how I could track down replacement insert holders?
