Thread: Suitable QCTP and milling vise

Not sure about the vise, but the toolposts from the US are allot cheaper for the same thing, you will end up with 3 times more holders for the same money.

Not sure why, the machinery seems to priced reasonable, but the tooling seems high.

I have never bought anything of that fellow over in the US, but I have only heard good about him.
If I had of known a few years ago about his tool posts I would have bought mine from there.
I paid $495 for my QA150, when could of had one of his tool posts and around 20 holders, instead of 4 for around the same money. One thing you need with QC tool posts is holders, or you will spend your time swapping tools in the holders, which is why you buy a QC in the first place, to save time. I have 6, but could do with a lot more.

If you do decide to go with the H and F tool posts, the quality of mine is excellent it's really nicely ground and I don't have any problems with it at all, other than the price, and the holders are harder to get elsewhere because there the Dickson style.

I have purchased a lot of stuff from CDCO over the last 3 months since buying a 9x20 lathe and BF20 mill.

I have been very happy with the prices and quality of the equipment, taking into consideration the price. Most of the equipment will last a long time if looked after and treated right.

The QCTP type AXA is as good and in fact the same as the H&F variety. The only problem I have had with the tool holders is that the grub screws have very shallow hex recesses and I have replaced them with better ones.

The vise I also purchased at the same time is the 4" Precision Screwless Vise ($78) and it is of top quality. It does not come with lock down clamps and I needed to purchase 1 set of these from Little Machine Shop (in the USA) as Frank does not sell these.
