surface grinder
Does anyone know a good place to get a spindle motor rewound and or repaired for my surface grinder, its a Jones and Shipman 1400 hydraulic. My factory is located at Ingleburn NSW.

I have heard the term "electrically balanced" used when the discussion of precision grinders comes up on other forums.... Whatever that means...

Mal,
I have found Austin Electric Motor Repairs in Lidcombe helpful.
My only connection with them is as a customer. Two years ago they rewound an 850W 415V three phase two speed pole changing motor for me to the same configuration but 240V. I would think that is a somewhat uncommon ask, but they did a good job at a reasonable price (less than $300 incl GST).
Some years earlier an 1100W 3 phase buffing machine at work burned out, and they rewound that - clearly a bog standard job - similar price. We did not ask for fast service, and did not get it, but they seem reliable.
ATM I am awaiting another rewind quote from them - another european 2 speed motor to be rewound from 415 V to 240 - similar job, different machine.
Cheers,
Bill

rewind
Thanks,
I'll give Austin's a go when I've removed the motor, anyone think of anyone else reliable. I have several parts to make requiring a precision finish and the auto is a lot easier on my aging joints.
