If that piece of rubber you have is reasonably ridged it may of been used to wipe the chuck down after use.

I did a bit of a search on your extractor unit and found this:

Looks like it is made by Donaldson.

I couldn't find out if it is wet or dry though. Maybe if you email Donaldson they might be able to give you more info.

I just had a thought. Do you have a wet shop vac? You could hook that into the extraction port on the wheel guard. That might suck away most of the mist.

The coolant tank is so big for thermal stability. After grinding for 5 or 6 hours mine is luke warm, i think it's 100l tank.
