Swiss Machinery ,A trip to MUller machines
Hi folks I am currently on a Trip In Switzerland and yesterday I went to visit the Muller machine museum in Biel/Bienne and then went to the Muller machine showroom to view some really nice machinery. We had a look at one of their warehouses and they had 3
Now back to the Museum , they had over 150 machine tools from 1800 all the way to the 1940s. My favorite was the two displays with running overhead lineshafts and 30 machines all working. Now let me post some phots of the museum.
circa 1800 wood lathe
Gear hobbers the oldest is from 1880
SIP optictcal comparator from 1912
Automatic lathes all these machines came from Germay and were working untill the late 90,s

Operators look a bit stiff were you able to get some formal instruction to help with your training apprentership.

Thanks for the great photos Andre, they are excellent, very close to BT quality as others have said. My comment on the machine operators, would be that the long hair on many of them was a surprise to me, I would have expected that Swiss or German traditions would have had machinists a bit more close cropped. I hope that you continue to enjoy your stay over there, and when you come back you come with some new toys.

Very impressive museum. Its clear that a very great deal of time and effort has gone into restoration and presentation of all that lovely machinery.
