    Thanks for the link.

    I will do a practice run on some scrap Oak first as I can't muck about with what is to be the parts due to nature of grain of the Oak.

    I have seen other ways of making a thread cutter using plastic pipe which is threaded but as this Oak blunts turning tools I will need something sturdy.

    If all else fails $75 for a bought one.

    Hi All,

    I've moved the next stage of this project to the woodworking forums, since it now involves more wood than metal....

    You might notice that I used a router mounted to the cross slide to cut the male threads.

    I know that cutting wood on a metal working lathe is not good practice, I spent a lot of time with the cleanup vacuuming sawdust and brushing fine dust from every nook and cranny after I finished...
