All you blokes need to GET A LIFE
Get over it, get on with life, enjoy your hobbies, woodworking, families, friends and worry / fret over the things that really matter and will make the world a better place.
Now go have a cup of your favorite brew, kiss your wife and or children, smile at your neighbour, say G'day to a stranger, give someone a hand who needs it, smell the roses.
The person who never made a mistake never made anything
Cheers
Ray

I understand your point Joe. I do find it extremely entertaining. It reminds me of the election process in a developing African nation. All anyone needs to do is say yay or nay. Lol.
If anyone wants to go Work in the shed then do so. How hard is it. Nobody is being forced.to read this. What is so hard about that.
It is obvious to me that the naysayers are not going to allow a "FAIR" decision to be made, so yes I agree that this thread should be closed. Then those people who cannot move from theiraq computers can go back to Work.

The Jealous ''Green Eyed'' Gum flapper responds.
Entertainment yes.
Jealousy or the envy of others not on my agenda.
Maybe some members have or maybe face some of the angst that an estate finalisation endures.
Was no sour grapes that was mentioned in the ''Depressing sights''post.Just out lining the sight of those pictures of the parlous state of an old machine shop bumps the heart strings.
any of the forum members who have visited me have never left here without some thing to go home with mainly steel stock.Same deal goes for any other forum visitor. All have been welcomed and go away happy.
We are not immortal although most of us seem to think we live to 150.we are only temporary custodians of our gear. Most of us like minded people here love their machinery care for it restore it and some just earn their keep.No way would I be annoyed about a dispersal sale it was the way a life time passed out the door in 4 hours, most of it has found new homes in central Victoria and is on going to to put beer in their fridge.
With that if uncertain re re my posts and note no one was targeted or blamed for one ''word''.Cheers one and all ''that gum flapping Ashburn.

Once you understand the male menstrual cycle, we all have our off days when we get narky and trivial insignificant things annoy us that would not any other day.... I would not take what any person has written in these sorts of posts too seriously.. I am not going to judge people on how they act in here...Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.

No creeping up behind like Brutus
[QUOTE=Oldneweng;1779914]"Don't you ever let a chance go by" Bob Hudson, The Newcastle Song. As an old "P******S", if you like, I remember Bob Hudson's song. I even have it recorded on my computer somewhere. My brother had the album. The song was about checking out a nice looking chick on the footpath. Do you remember about "Your big Bum"?
Yes, my older brother too, and I've got it stored on a drive somewhere as well, along with another I think was titled 'Jonathon Livingston Budgerigar', and to me, changing the name of Andre's thread makes far less sense than Bob's silly, but funny song.
As for the suggestion that I was stabbing you in the back, I didn't think I was creeping up behind you, it was more a sort of nose to nose encounter.
Your belief is that you are trying to improve things.
My belief 'and it is a logical one' is that you are trying to change something to suit your moral standards because you don't like the word gloat.
I get one better on my mates in or out of work and I gloat, just like they do to me. I'd reckon that's an illogical response if I was Mister Spock.
Sadly, neither I nor any of my mates grew up on Vulcan. Being human, we have emotions and bragging in all good humor with our mates is one we all enjoy no matter who's doing the bragging at the time.
That's what Todays Tool Gloat is to me
Nearly 30 years ago a good mate and I competed with each other on weekends to see who could get the best bargain at Lawn Sales 'you call them Garage sales' who scored the best bargains won the day and naturally GLOATED, usually over a beer. The people who parted company with some of our bargains where sometimes just to lazy to take the offending items to the dump.
I have absolutely no objections to whatever thread that you may wish see started and participate in, but I like Today's Tool Gloat exactly as it is.
I must be honest, I will be upset if the title of the thread changes because some are offended by the word Gloat.
As for participating in the old Flame Wars, I started with a 9600 baud modem, the big brother started with a 1200 baud one, I reckon if you're gunna beat that, yours must have run on steam ;-)
Off topic Moderator but I would like to add, 60 odd hours at work already this week and its only Thursday, no shed time at all, 3 dogs getting toey because they haven't been out the front gate since Sunday
The Boring Bar and Valve Grinder I bought off of Mark Walker still need attention (http://www.mwv2.com/) check out this young fella's site, he's go not time for this sort of stuff.
The Pratt and Whitney tool and cutter grinder's all good, just gotta learn how to use it.
Arad lathe is in regular use even though I haven't levelled it yet
The little Hercus is buried in swarf
Avia mill high speed head is still apart waiting for those 'bloody expensive precision bearings from the States' to be fitted
Still have a few fins on the Cylinder and Barrel of the old K3 Honda basket case to dress up after welding them back up again.
Not going to add any more (off the dozens of jobs ) because I've spent nearly an hour on this, and tomorrow I have to prepare for what no Southerner would understand, the influx
of migrants ( mates ) escaping persecution from the cold of winter of those horrible places that you all live in to the Dry Season of Darwin.
Any one of you single blokes out there would understand the pressures of having to clean the house inside and out with the Pressure Washer and two stroke blower ;-)
I'm off to the tune of ' Let My People Go ' to 'Leave My Forum Alone'

Your still waffling on about dispersal sales. Its obviously a sore point. Which part of the 99.9% of posts in that horrible, corupt, stealing from the widow thread wern't the HIGHEST bidder on Ebay or Gumtree.
What would you suggest? Once you have offered the most money to win an auction, you throw another $50 or $100 in, kind of like a tip?
All the auction sites allow a reserve price. So wouldn't it be plain simple FACT, that the sellers have allowed it to be sold at what ever given price?
The FACT remains. No one here has ever claimed "look what I stole today". There's been some extraodinary bargains, but they were still the highest bidder. I'll get onto Ebay, and find out how I can bid against myself to drive the price up.
Its also rude to suggest the dozens upon dozens of blokes that submitted to that thread were gloating or bragging. FACT they paid the highest price on offer. I'm sure Andre feels like Sxxx, because he thinks he's done somthing wrong.
All you blokes outraged by the word Gloat. Whats next? Blackbanning Andre? Afterall, he did start it. Clearly he must have meant he was gloating, according to some of you.
But if you scroll back to page one, post #30
https://www.woodworkforums.com/showth...51#post1386851
Kid was prepared to give up his life's time savings at that point. Some Gloat
And in 2014 gloat means steal. Whats your definition of a "Gay Time" A trip to Paris to see the Eifel tower at the 1900 world fair? Cause words never change direction.

.A young 15 year old decides to start a thread that has Loads of responses ( 96 pages ) over the years, and you lot are telling him he's got it wrong
Gloating over your latest toyshop score!!! Todays Tool Shop Gloat has got 96 pages up now
I reckon something must be right with it
Spent the last few weeks with folks during a Half Life Overhaul of the Power Factory that I work in and keep hearing learned statements about how we've be doing it wrong all these years.
Bloody, a search of all records and a Spanish Inquisition of the few surviving Old Hands has revealed that after 210,000 hours, our 28 year old steam turbine had the slipper bearings lifted once for a scrape.
Buggers that built that mustn't have had a clue.
Andre, you got it right first time mate.

Masterchef is over, what else am I supposed to do before I get sleepy?
I am supprised you wrote it off so easily, given that Andre is at the very coor of the issue. Surely you cant have demands to change his thread title, with out reflecting on him. Have you thought that through? I'm a bit disappointed.

Sorry Andre
Andre, I like what you created as do many others.
It might only be an internet thread in the eyes of some, but YOU have brought some kindred spirits together
Bloody good achievement even if it might have been an inadvertent one.
All my respect for having done that
