Default New Thread Title to Replace "today's tool gloat"

My vote is for "Today's Tool Acquisition".

As I suggested, I think that each title should only be posted once. After a set period ask for a poll to be arranged, then members can vote for their favourite title. Only one vote per member, but more than one title can be suggested.

When the count is in, everyone should accept the will of the majority.

I vote for 2 weeks of suggestions then a poll.

We may not need a poll at this rate. This must be a decision made by the majority as much as is possible tho. Anyone who has any different ideas about any aspects of this process, please chime in with your thoughts.

For example does anyone have any issues with just making the choice after a week if there is obviously overwhelming support for Michael's idea?

Guys, please consider that the thread "Today's tool gloat" was started by welder.

Might perhaps be an idea to consult with him first?

I am amazed at how offended some of you are by the use of that word...

It was never meant to insult, snub, be disparaging, disrespecting etc etc etc!!!

I agree with Big Shed....it should be up to welder

No one posting in Andre's thread has done so with the intention of upholding the meaning of the word. Nevertheless, it is still an ugly word IMHO.

Agree. I've already stated my objection to it. Not intended as an attack on Andre but I find it offensive and a poor choice of word. I doubt he meant it the way I interpret 'gloat' but still.....

I'm quite happy with 'Today's Tool Acquisition' as it has no such connotations of exploitation.

Also happy to see the end of the "gloat" if that is Ok with Andre. Actually stops me putting anything in that thread because who wants to seen gloating over the purchase of a tool

I'll happily go with that too.
My personal choice might have been something like "Look what I found!"

My original thought was "Look what I got" but the above may be a bit softer.

Ideally, I would like to see the same thread in both the Metal work and Wood work sections.
Either way, I agree that the 'g' word isn't quite right, keeping in mind the original posters innocence in creating the thread that grew like topsy.
