    Default Toowoomba:colchester chipmaster lathe $1495

I went to the haigslea swap on saturday. There was a chipmaster for sale for $1495. I got the chap's number. If your interested email me off the link under my username with your number and I'll pass it onto him. I will not pass out his number out of respect for his privacy. He said he'd be in toowoomba for at least another half week so you need to act quick.

Be aware I only made a cursory inspection of the machine. The controller is missing, but you'd get an inverter and get variable drive that way. It has no chucks, only a cam lock back plate and a face plate. It's done some work but the bed is probably ok. It's got a basic single tool post on it. I think they are 11 3/4" by 20". A very nice machine and a handy size. About 550 kg I believe.

I personally don't like them as I'ver never understood why you would want variable speed, but a lot of people disagree with me so I must be wrong. Hardened bed and very very rigid.

$1495 is a good price for the machine in it's current condition. You need to go look and sort out the deal with the vendor. YOU need to decide if it's what you want.

The machine was in a box trailer and the sign said $1900 with trailer so you could buy the lot and take it home that way. The gentleman selling it seemed a nice bloke. He's moving to tassy and has bought another lathe.

Bother. I tried to include the location but it hasn't turned out and now I can't add it.

BigShed: Yes it's that type of machine.

new_guy90: Hiaglea is a motorcycle swap, been going a few years and gradually getting bigger. Nothing like gatton and certainly nothing like toowoomba. It's the rpelacment for the small toowoomba bike swap, I am told they lost the access to the football gound and moved it to the motorcycle museum at haigslea. Just down the road from my place and a good opportunity to catch up with people.

Note I don't know if this lathe is sold. I spoke to him at about 9 am. I have had no one email me their details yet.

Your saying he's still got the triumph ? How much did he want for that ?

i think he wanted $7,000 last year i didnt have a long chat to him this year but the price to me sounds just a little pricey but i learned how to turn on a triumph 2000 they are very easy to run and a quality machine

i have to get up to that bike museum some day im in Ipswich so i don't really have an excuse

oh did you meet a french man? he was up at Toowoomba and had heaps and heaps of old turning tools

I went mainly to see friends, so I only did a really quick lap. $7k is too much for a triumph. They come up regularly for about $3500, unless it had bags of tooling...

I've not paid the $15 or whatever but I'm told the museum is quite good. If I want to look at rooms full of rusty old bikes I just visit friends, and get coffee thrown in...
