    Default ARC Welder power problems

    Hi all

    i recently got a cheap arc welder that has a no load voltage of 48 volts, 100 amp. I was wondering if i could just plug it straight in to the power point and weld ???

    please help

    The figures you quoted are from the name plate I assume. Does it have a standard plug on the end of the power cord? Do you have the hand piece and earth clamp?

    Sorry, yes it came with an earth clamp, torch, the current range is from 45-100 amps , 240vac, 50Hz

    hope that helps a bit more if not just tell us

    Power points are 240VAC (actually 230 now, but close enough with tolerances), 50Hz. Should just plug in. Anything on it about rated input current? You don't want to trip a breaker.
