Default Trying to post a PDF file

    Hi guys
If this works, I can post the required drawings and info about Screwcutting. I am still having heaps of problems with getting the pdf file to upload. The drawing, if it appears, is the recumbent trike I designed some time ago, I hope to find time now to build it after I finish my high speed Sand Yacht.

If you're having to D/L the PDF to open it, it means that you have your settings in your browser set to D/L rather than open with Adobe or whatever PDF viewer you use.

If I click on the link it opens it, as my settings are set as open rather than D/L
    Cheers

    Default Similar download problem

    Hi DJ,

Would you be kind enough to elaborate on Browser settings.

I too have to download the pdf file first, then open it for viewing.

Precisely which settings and where, need to be tweeked to view the file straight off?

I think it is more to do with the forum settings.

I have uploaded your file to Image Shack (click) for online viewing.

Errrmm... correct me if I'm wrong, but being a PDF doesn't your system have to download it either way?

The only real difference is online viewing downloads it temporarily into a temp folder and automatically deletes the copy from your hard-drive when you've finished viewing...
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

Save as a JPEG, resize and post like this.

Yep, just like anything you see on the internet is a download - unless you uploaded it to someone else and you are seeing what was already on your hard drive.

He just means it's a pain to download it, view once and delete - I agree. In the days of broadband a 1MB or so file can be viewed online easily when needed.

What you say is true Skew, the only difference between the 2 really is that opening doesn't save a copy, as it's D/loaded to your Temp where it is deleted after a set time and if you D/L it, you then have to open it afterwards, so you're still D/Ling either way.

Depending on which Browser you're using Ken, for Firefox it's Tools>Options>Applications and then you'll need to select what action you want it to do when you click on a particular file or program.

For other browsers, it should be something similar.

As for PDFs, I've got mine set to ask me every time, that way I can decide if I just want to look at it or save it to a particular Folder
    Cheers
