A TAFE welding teacher taught me how to DC TIG weld aluminium last week. Granted the electrode gets contaminated quickly (so you can only do short welds, say 75mm, before you need to regrind the electrode) but it is possible. The naysayers will tell you its impossible, but I have now done it myself.

Give it a go, make sure you are wired up DCEP, use pulse, about 20% base current, and I was using about one pulse per second. Obviously peak current will be dictated by material thickness.

Using aluminium on your manifold might still be an option, and easier to fabricate yourself.
