Default Anyone interested in turing up a bearing?

    High,

Whilst I have a lathe I'm not sure I should machine up a spigot bearing for my car.

    I need a phosphor bronze bearing 32mm od x 16mm id and 20mm deep.

Whilst I "could" machine it the engine is a little too valuable to entrust this to my average ability.

I'm happy to pay someone to do it if they are interested.

Do you have a drawing for this bearing or is it to be made to sample or do the parts need to be measured and machined to suit.

One or two weeks would be good but if it took longer so be it.

The engine has been under construction for 4 years so a few days won't matter.

The engine is a supercharged Lexus V8 (600+bhp) and it's mounted to a Nissan Patrol transmission and it all lives in a Range Rover chassis.

The bearing is to support the transmission's first motion shaft in the back of the Lexus crank.

Bit of a bitza but it will be a very fast bitza!

    Thumbs up

Good on you pipeclay! I can recommend his work in bronze bearings! (The grinder works great.)

Thankyou at least this one seems to be a little bit more standard.

    How's that for service?

I picked the bearing up this afternoon and it's in the engine now.

    Fitted perfectly (I didn't think it wouldn't)!

    Thanks Pipeclay.
