How Are Very Small Twist Drills Made?
I was using some 0.3mm and 0.5mm twist drill bits today to clean up a tiny hole in a PC board.
I wondered how these things are actually made?
With a 10x loupe, they seemed to have ground flutes.

Drill bits can be ground from solid, so that could well be correct. I've seen some that look to be machined and I believe that the ones with coolant channels can actually be twisted.

Many years ago I had visit to the P & N works at Maryborough in Victoria ,I was amazed at
worker sharpening minute small drills by hand. These drills were that small I could not
see the twist on them with the naked eye. John.
