Default What type of press is this?

    Hi everyone,
I've been trying to find out what type of press is featured in this video on working tortoiseshell but have had no great success.
It looks like a book binders press on steroids to me...

Also...does anyone know where i might be able to find one?

You can see it being used at around 9:35ish in this clip

    Hi Fudo,
It certainly is a strange press, from what I can work out it is a combined fly press and hydraulic press. Where you would get one from is a good question, as I've never seen one like it. You would probably have to get one from China Ebay!!

It's a hydraulic press. The piston is in the bottom and the screw at the top sets the work space. I've seen them used for pressing in cylinder liners for motor cycle engines. They produce about 20 - 30 tons.
