Did you get the scriber section with it,you would probably just calibrate yourself.

Like Pipeclay said they come with a scriber and clamp.
You could just use a gauge block to calibrate it, even if you borrow one. It looks like the scale screws can be undone to calibrate it.

How height?
Got a picture of the back?
It seems to have two lock screws and some sort of squeeze release?
Most height gauges the column(or the scale on the column) can be moved vertically to zore them to the scriber that is fitted. Yours would seem to need the scribers to be matched to the gauge.(though who knows what going on inside the base?
Here is the best picture I have handy of the scriber on mine.

Mine will likely spend most of its life as a DTI stand anyway.

It is 26"high on the Imperial scale..no scriber ..I paide $40 for it

the base has a gear for fine adjustment .. a long acme screw goes up the length

Here are a couple of photos showing the missing scriber - G & M Tools - Chesterman 18 inch/450mm Vernier Height Gauge

Often carbide tipped straight scribers appear for sale on US Ebay. The clamp might be a problem though you could make do with a little machinist's parallel clamp.

Yes Stuart, you press the brass buttons each side and that disengages the acme screw , you then slide the main body up/down and let go.
