    Default VFD settings HUANYANG

    Hi

Ive just got my HUANYANG VFD going . It powers up OK .

I'm playing with parameters. It's only turning the motor very slowly so far .

I cannot seem to make sense of the flashing numbers and leds

It doesn't seem to pushing enough amps into the motor . The motor is making sounds , but turning slowly .

Any tips for a beginner MIKE

After I set a parameter , I press the set ( enter ) button and its supposed to say " END ", it does that sometimes , but often it goes onto the next parameter without storing what I want .

I've got the ramp up speed working OK . But the Amps only goes up to 1.5 or thereabouts , the motor needs more power .

    What should pd003 be ?

I tried to go back to the factory settings PD0013 , but it doesnt seem to want to do that

    Hi Mike,
For the minute Pd003 = 50 (its the Freq you want the motor rto run at)
PD004 needs to be 50(thats the freq the motor was built for, my VSDs says default is 50 but all four were set to 400)

Do you have the motor in star or delta?

    The motor is in DELTA

I will give it another try now . OK on the 50 parameters .

    Thanks for your assistance .

All I did was change PD003 and PD004 to 50 and now its got heaps of power and revs

    thanks MIKE

    been playing

Seems that the PD0005 parameter changes the motor rpm - I've changed it and the motor speeds up or slows down . When I have PD0005 set to 50 , the motor does 1440 rpm

I've got a loose or dry bearing in the grinder spindle , it makes harsh squeeling sounds now and then . I removed the belt and ran the motor alone , I loaded it lightly by pressing on the pulley , I noticed no difference in its sound , so I suspect the noise is in the main spindle itself . I can feel a slight wobble in the spindle from side to side , looks like tapered roller bearings inside it . MIKE

    Hi Mike,

Have you got the manual? Huanyang Library

You shouldn't change the motor speed by changing the maximum frequency

You use PD3 to set your motor speed, leave PD5 set to whatever you want the absolute maximum to be, I'd suggest 50-100, but check the actual spindle speed and the RPM rating on the grinding wheels you have before you get too carried away with high speeds.

You wouldn't want the wheel to fly apart...

    Regards
    Ray

Edit What sort of run-out are you seeing on your spindle? That might give you a clue as to the condition of the bearings, are they oil lubricated?

    Default Speed

    OK

I will use PD0003 to control speed from now on . I've had it up to around 2800 rpm so far . Any grinding wheel worth its salt should handle that speed without flying apart .

I removed the bearing cap/retainer on the grinding wheel side of the spindle , the tapered R bearing in there is visible , it isnt dry , it has a oily film all over it .

The only lube point I can find for the spindle bearings is underneath the spindle body/casting , a grease nipple . Problem is, the bearings are much higher that that nipple , I dont see how any lubricant could reach them , unless you pumped it full of oil .

The runout , I havent put the DTI on the spindle end yet , will do . The machine has been sitting for years and it needs a few hours of use to get things working again .

The factory accessories that came with it are amazing , it will take me years to sort out how to use them all !

    Hi Mike,
    The motor or the spindle?
Are you checking it with a tacho or just going by what the VSD is telling you?(because if you dont have the motor details correct in the VSD the rpm its telling you will be wrong......PD143 mostly I think)

    Stuart

p.s. PD0004 is the Hz of the motor, PD0005 is (as Ray said) the max Hz you want the VSD to run, PD0007 is the minium speed you want the VSD to run, PD0003 is the speed you the VSD to start at, once started you can change the speed with the up/down arrows to any speed between PD0005 and PD0007.

    Default manual

    Ray ,

Yes I have the manual, but it's poorly written .

This unit doesn't seem to display temp. It's always saying C00000 .

Stuart , yes OK I was wondering how to use the up down arrows to change speed - I tried that but it didn't work , probably because I had a parameter set up wrong . ... I'm still grappling with the basis

re: the rpm. Yes I am reading the rpm on the hunayang . The motor and spindle pullies are the same diam. as far as I can tell . 1 to 1 ratio .

Nothing is getting hot, or warm even , the VFD is running well under its rated limit .

    OK

I've just done the DTI test on the spindle end , it doesn't move ..like its nil runout

I still cannot change speeds with the up down arrows. I've put in the high / low speed parameters but the arrows do nothing while it is running

    Hi Mike,

What is PD1 and PD2 set to? They need to be set to 0, to use the front panel keypad.

    Hi Mike,
Also when you try the up/down arrows by default you'll be adjusting in 0.01Hz steps. Press the >> button to move the column you are adjusting one to the left. If it upsets you, can change PD078 to 0 then you will be adjusting 0.1Hz steps lol
