    Richo,
I have to back-pedal: I confused the Waldown with a mate's drill press (can't remember the make). The Waldown has a completely different tension setup to what I described.
Sorry about the poor quality photos, the phone doesn't do a good job at night.....
    Joe

PS: Bob T: yes, it will be restored properly one day soon
RayG: I just noticed the clamp on this drill with the 3/8" threaded boss - like the one you cast....

FWIW I remembered corresponding with Waldown just after I bought my drill in late 1980.
Here are scans of the price list and brochures that they sent me:
    Price list October 1980
    Grinding & Buffing Machines
Precision Machine Vices (I bought one of these - brilliant vices)
    Multi Head Machines
    Multispindle Heads
    Pedestal Grinders
    Precision Drilling Machines
Super Sensitive High Speed Drilling Machines
    Toolpost Grinders

Interesting to notice that the Radial Arm Drill was twice the price of the 8SN
    - $1200 vs $600.

Learnt something already today - in the catalogue the 2M drill has a 2 Morse taper, the 3M has a 3MT. I always wondered why they were named like that...

I'm in Beulah Park (Norwood way) - so a little closer than Bryan or Phil. Considering that the bush is only reducing the radius of the hole by 1.6mm, the keyway can probably be recut with hacksaw and file. (that's if you are not boring out the pulley to mount a bigger bush - another option).
If you go the bigger bush option then I have a lathe and shaper (and a broach set - but no press yet).

I'd still like to see a picture of the broken pulley as it may be able to be salvaged, and as we all know it's far better to spend 3 hours salvaging an original bit of machine than 1/2 an hour fitting a new bit.

Tried to post photos of pulley damage last night - got some message about needing moderator to review and approve ???
    Anyway here's another try:
    old repair
    major damage
another old repair - done with "Devcon" IIRC

Richo, how do you loosen & tighten the belt to change speeds? It's not obvious from the photos.
It's pleasing to see this machine being cared for.

We're getting a bit off topic here, but yes some Stahlwille spanners - well spotted.
    Look here for better photo
The piston became an ashtray (- for others to use) after one of its mates made a mad dash for freedom through the side of a V8 block.

Might have had a bit of luck today - bought a damaged 8SN for ~$70.
I didn't have time to inspect before bidding so it could be a pig in a poke.
However, I'm hoping to be able to salvage some useful parts for the drive train.
Based on the prices for genuine parts, it won't take much to cover my $70
I noticed that the lot includes a "Waldown VC20 twin head attachment"
Can't see myself using that for anything, but maybe it'll be of interest to someone else.
I'll post again when I've collected the drill and inspected it.
