Hmm .... did I see a post where you were thinking of making me a lathe Ray????
You did Gloria and so did we! Lean on him. Ray seems to have more time on his hands than the rest of us.

Hi Sister, Welcome to the forum, and yes, thanks again for dragging me to that auction, I doubt we will see auctions with a $70 Waldown drill press, and a $140 varnamo shaper any time soon..
You'll find plenty of friendly and helpful people hanging out on the forums, especially there is lot's of good stuff on the wood turning forums.
Now, about that wood lathe... I think I might be able to come up with something.. variable speed drive, swivel head, decent tail stock.. I'll come up with some ideas and we can chat over the details.
Regards

When I made the new locking ring I couldn't figure out why there was a hole tapped into the locking ring opposite the clamping lever..
Matty (aka L.S.Barker1970) emailed this picture...
So one mystery is replaced by another? What's it for? I'm guessing it's for catching cutting fluid?

I would have thought it was more likely to be dispensing - that is a gravity suds device.

I would say it's meant for cutting fluid and to hold the brush in it.
Handy feature.

Thanks Michael and Dave,
I get it now, that is an additional locking ring fitted above the table, on mine there is only the one below the table. It would make sense to have only one casting to do both jobs.
I can see that would be a handy thing to have. I should cast another..
Regards
Ray
