Wharf Problems
Anyone here have any problems getting stuff off the wharfs? I went to two suppliers in Sydney over the weekend and both stated that they have had to wait for two weeks to pick up their stuff.

There were issues with wharves in a number of ports including Sydney a couple of weeks ago because of EBA renewal issues. The wharfies went on strike for a couple of days, ships started to back up waiting to load/unload, others diverted to ports operated by other companies, but clogged their container handling systems. Shipping companies announced that they would divert to NZ and offload there rather than have the ships stuck in ports.
After a couple of days on strike, the workers went back but the problem was not fully resolved, so ongoing disputes are possible. Meanwhile stuff destined for Sydney could be anywhere from Hobart to Darwin, in NZ, and awaiting trans shipment back to it's original destination.

were not on strike in melb. it only one of the company's. we haven't been able to take any strike action in melb because of commission hearings..productivity was way down but is creeping up every day.
so i suppose this is one time where a supplier blaming something being stuck on the wharfs as being about right.
