I'm guessing from the floor tiles that it stands about man high? I wonder how much power that would generate, and where it was made to be used?

    Default Steam Engine

I reckon that engine would easily power a mono rail system.

Your onto him Bruce, I never thought of that, of course it's from Bob's mono rail system before it was installed.

Gee with stuff like that over there it's a wonder Phil is not moving in as the maintenance guy. LOL

Thanks again for the pictures Bob,

    Dave

    Thanks Dave.
Its good to have a bit of a laugh every so often. Always from age 10, I just wanted to be a steam engine driver.
Now just any type of reciprocating engine, shaper, surface grinder, planer, flat leather drive belt, or even the sight of a bronze bearing gets me going.
I will accept the need of a support group...... Badly

Thanks for posting those great pictures BT,

That would be just the size machine for a home workshop.. I can see that powering Phil's steam powered shaper.. with a lineshaft setup...

I can see it now... stoking the boiler and waiting in the cold early morning mist for the steam pressure to get up.. drinking a hot chocolate...

    Regards
    Ray

    Hi Bruce,
Couldn't agree more, many times I have laughed here at home over something written on the forum, and the wife or kids look at me and strange, then I have to tell them it was something on the forum.

It sounds like I was wrong, you would want the maintenance job more than Phil. I wonder if BT is hiring for his mono rail and other attractions.

I think we all need help on this board, but there is no one who specialises in this sort of machinery mental illness. LOL
If you do find one don't tell my wife or she will have me there strait away, and then all the fun will be gone.

Next holiday you go on, I am going with you. You seriously have the best holidays. I would love to get my teeth into some of those engines, especially when there is enough funding to do a proper rebuild unlike where I....
Anyways, lack of funds just means more work which ain't all bad.
Fantastic photos and a massive thanks for posting them all.
I have a trip planned in that direction and that museum has just topped the list of 'must sees'.

If you are heading in that direction Phil and Paris is included in your itinerary, set aside a day for the Musee de Artes et Metiers. Far smaller than the Deutsches Museum but filled with the exquisité. The Ducommun bevel gear cutter is displayed there. https://www.woodworkforums.com/f65/so...french-143239/

Excellent Bob as I have been told we have to go to Paris. Now at least I have something to see there as well.

Bob, you are my new travel agent.

I want to take a few figurative rolls of digital film next time I visit the Henry Ford in Dearborn.
