Yes in fact I could do that easily enough. I was just thinking about mounting the dremel in a tool post adapter which I purchased from a guy on PM.

    Default Swarf City

After what I am surprised to discover has been two months of distractions, I did some more work on the Deckel today. After working on the Perrin I decided to completely strip the FP-1 to check for swarf and grease. I have found both, so this won't be wasted effort. I removed the Y axis today and discovered a swarf goldmine in there. Some scoring of the ways for obvious reasons. More scraping on the menu for this axis and its gib too.

First up is the underside of this axis followed by the machine base with contamination around the main drive gear. I'll have to see if there is a better method of preventing this after the repairs. There is no evidence of a Y axis way wiper ever being installed.

Not that it helps the horizontal head ways much, but when did Deckel introduce the concertina way covers and more importantly do you know if they fit or can be made to fit your vintage FP1. At least they are available, obviously at a price from Herr Franz. For some weird reason, Schaublin chose not to fit them to the 13. I make do with an offcut of insertion rubber propped up againt the vertical dovetail. Shabby but reasonably effective.

Thank you for the photographic update Gregory.

Funny you should ask Bob. I bought Singer's universal metal clad vertical concertina. I'll have to make a mounting plate for it though. I'll measure it tomorrow; it may fit the 13 if you are interested.

You really reckon you needed to ask whether I'm interested?
