    Hi Gavin,
We are having it built locally at one of the better fabrication shops in town.
I'm pretty impressed with the work so far.

    Nice work Phil.
To start with i thought the pump had 150mm or so dia pipe....but i see its more like 300mm! How much water can it move?

Rubber mallet? Looks like a plastic dead blow hammer to me......only cause i got one the same! Only its the kids now, i split one face and all the sand is coming out

Back when I built Holden red motors it was known as a Stromberg Adjustment Tool.

Back when my step son was working at Holdens at Elizabeth it was used to adjust just about everything including glass and panels.

Best way to adjust a stromberg is with a very large sledge hammer then go and buy a Holley. I swapped the 2 barrel stromberg for a 350 holley on my 250 2v and fixed a lot of problems. Still got 25 mpg at average speed of about 90.

    Hi all,
I walked past the Dormac mill yesterday and sitting on the pallet/stand (must get around to making a proper stand one day) was a box with the words dividing head on it.
Apparently this box had been there for a few days, How observant of me
Needless to say I opened it up. I'm a little excited

I remember when you started this thread and how interesting it was and now all this time latter it's still getting up dated with interesting stuff.
Thanks for sharing and taking the time to keep us updated Phil.

    Hi Ewan,
I really should answer posts immediately
The old pump would move about 600 gallons an hour and although the pipe is about 12" (300mm), the plunger is about 9" (229mm). This one has a plunger that is slightly smaller at about 8" (200mm).
The new plunger is actually a hydraulic cylinder approximately 13' long (4 metres)
It has been a mad rush at work to get it up and running by this Friday but we encountered a bit of a problem last night at about 7 o'clock which sadly had nothing to do with our work and consequently is out of our control, so work has ceased until the problem can be rectified which at this stage will be after Australia day.
We have since removed the pump rod and lowered it down until it rested on the pump. It will stay that way until they can make the 'little' problem go away.
Some pics of the work so far.

Silly, that's Rodney pump and the other guy is Mr Balance, only his friends can call....
Correct Stuart, and that ye olde battery drill is normally used by the ye older fitter. For some reason this job is taking it out of me.
There are noises being made about old age creeping in. I may have to start listening to the voices in my head.

I take it that your boss(es) found it more politic to buy you a nice new DH than extract the other one from the timber hacking shop?

If so, I am not at all surprised..... but who cares as long as you got one to use.

Actually I was quite surprised when he said I could borrow it anytime. I wasn't surprised to find out it is broken
    Loving my nice new one.

Yeah, I might not use mine for years, but when I need it, it's there. Bought it 30+ years ago, a Taiwanese copy of the B&S design. No good for making anything but spur gears, but then, neither am I....
