    Default Greetings from Dublin.

Hi to all you blokes, I have been lurking on odd occasions on the forum, I have not posted for some months now as we have been in Ireland. We will be home in a week - leaving Wednesday and having 4 days in Bangkok as a breather. We have had a fantastic time, the hospitality of the Irish has to be experienced to be believed. Unfotunately this time the weather has been pretty ordinary, but the people have been fantastic. Nice to see that you have all had a great time at Simons place, and I look forward to catching up with you when I get home. Cheers for now,
    Rob

    Hi all,

glad to hear you guys all enjoyed the visit, and made it home safe. I had a ball, although the lack of photos is a bit of a disappointment and I guess as host the fault lies with me! Sorry. I was just too busy looking at everyones toys they brought.

To all you guys that couldn't make it, never mind, a few of you got mentioned.... in a good way!

I'm hoping someone will nominate their place for the next BBQ in a few months or so. Surely we can fit at least one more in before the Christmas madness sets in? I'm happy to travel, and have room for 3 - 4 others.

    Cheers,

    Simon

I'd like to say a big thankyou and congrats to Simon and his wife for hosting the first BBQ which must have been somewhat daunting and intimidating - especially having people he's never really met at his house and more importantly, in the inner sanctum of his shed, some of whom use bizarre names when they are on forums.....

Thanks also to John for the box full of Model Engineer mags etc, I will catalogue the issues on this forum (eventually) and at very least will scan articles by request and email them to people.

Thanks also to everyone else for making me feel welcome, it was great to get away from the 'thousand year renovation' and share ideas and a few laughs with like minded people. I would have liked to have stayed a bit longer but I have a missus and young kids so I had to go home to be worshipped. Well okay, at least by the kids...

No worries gerbil lover! I'm glad you made it and enjoyed my humble shed. It was also great to put a face to the name BTW you left your beer in my esky!

I don't think I have mentioned it yet but also a big thanks to everyone for bringing something. I felt a bit guilty as I had lots of food left over. Special thanks to Phil (Machtool) for the potatoes in jackets in the coals with sour cream and butter. Yum! they went down a treat!

It was a bit intimidating having people in the shed. Especially such a group of people that have experience and skills far beyond me. But I guess the beauty of this forum is people are here because we have common interests not because they want to criticise your setup or what you have done.

I'd be happy to have a BBQ again. Hopeing someone else will stage one next though......

Besides I want to have a sticky beak at someone else's shed!

    Simon

If I'd known Phil was doing some of the cooking I'd have flown over.

Organise another barbeque the first week of September and I'll let you know. I'll be there.

Seeing you may be making the effort, It could be an opportunity for me to hook on the new secondhand caravan, purchased spontaneously, after visiting "Localele" Micheal up north a couple of weeks back. A trip to Victoria, would be a nice run. We could continue on the discussions from the Scrapefest this year, & more. May need a few days
I would like to meet up with Steamwhisperer Phil & have a look at the Steam Engines etc
& generally update on therapy session progress.
    Yes !!!
    regards
    Bruce
ps Phil, after seeing your Trammel set I was close to spending more money on a nice Starrett set, but yesterday, polished up the old set I already have. Dont use Trammels a great lot these days.

How can you criticise someone for having a go?

Two skills I need to brush up on is tidiness and organisation, once again reinforced by Sunday's BBQ.

As for the beer, if you don't want them, give them to someone who does.

I'd be happy to host one, I'm in the middle of reno and moving at the moment so it might be a year or two down the track. I might have learnt how to tidy up by then.....

LOL! Little bit further south, and a lot further east. Not far from Seymour.

Not an issue John. I'd be happy to make the effort to drive to your place. It's hardly a chore!
