Pete,
Rather than pursue a rarer than rare W20 arbored Wohlhaupter, why not procure one with a solid arbor of a size that would allow you to turn it down to a short 20mm straight version that you could then hold in a matching W20 collet. There are frequently UPA-3s with solid arbors on Ebay that were used in Moore jig borers. They sell "cheaply" because I guess few jig borers are used these days.
Here's a W20 UPA-2. Belongs to William Brem from the Aciera - Old Swiss Machine Tools group. The size I need but not the arbor. You want the arbor but not the size.

That's a nice introduction Bob. Because I've forgotten so much German these days, when I used to go up there visiting if I didn't want to speak German (ie it was technical or complicated), I'd begin by saying would they mind if I spoke English. I always considered it more polite than asking if they did speak English. It could be interpreted as accusing them of being a little, err, "slow" . On eBay I simply ask in English, but very simple phrases. While normally marching up to somebody in the street there and blurting out something in English is considered the height of rudeness (and quite why some people think if they yell it or ask is some idiotic accent it makes it better is beyond me), it's a little different in business, and international transactions are normally conducted in English. I guess eBay is a bit of a half-way house, so your introduction is especially polite Bob. As always with you.
Anyway, as far as the arbor, yes a 20 mm I could accept straight in a collet, and that's my plan. But it's still good to keep an eye out for native W20 tooling as I think it's quite rare. I'm currently trying to get my head around making up some W20 cutter holders, but they're a little tricky for a number of reasons. Namely the buttress thread is a non-standard 45/5 instead of 45/7. The pitch is also 1 2/3 mm. FFS The taper itself should be fine as it's just 15 degrees, but hey, it's still a taper so the potential for a screw up is still there. Finally, there's a 4 mm keyway cut in them. Again, not a biggie, but all in all a big step up from the MT 2 and 3 I'm used to making. I used to live quite close to the Swiss border and we always considered the Swiss a little "different", the usual cross border teasing I guess. Turn on a radio station there and you'll understand what I mean. Apologies to any Swiss readers, you guys make some awesome stuff, but 1.66666667 pitch? Really?

Ray I sent Greg a link to one a few weeks back of one to suit a Deckel. He may still have the email? At the time it was about 70 bucks IIRC. No idea what it went for. I reckon more than 70!

Well, I finally picked up a boring and facing head Fräsmaschine Zubehör Wohlhaupter Ausspindeln Plandrehen Deckel SK40 | eBay
Non removable arbor and SK40 S20x2 buttress thread draw bar, so it will fit the FP2LB and hopefully do exactly what I need, but resale value might be limited to Deckel owners...
I saw a D'Andrea for over $3000 looked pretty good..., and Ken (Toggy) bought over his Mizoguchi, I was very impressed with the Mizoguchi...

Hi Ray,
Well done, all I can say is they are very nicely made. I haven't even used mine yet, it is still in bits.....
That one looks very clean and well looked after, should be a joy to use, especially on the deckel.
Cheers

You've done well ray, I'm sure you'll love it - I've used my UPA3 quite a bit and am continually impressed by what its capable of.
Also recently picked up an assortment of fine little "Komet" boring & circlip grooving bars which only adds to it's versatility.WANTED: D1 - 8" Camlock either on a backing plate, or drive plate

I have not been able to put it to use yet, but it is a stunning piece of tooling. We were a little surprised to see that it is the removable arbour as it was asked if it was fixed or removable and was answers it was fixed.

Rather then start a new thread, I think a few people here own a UPA3, they might be able to help this person out.. My only experience is with the UPA4 which is totally different.
